Golf in Nigeria and on the Sunshine Tour
Golf has a long history in Nigeria, with established clubs in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan and beyond hosting amateur and professional events. The Nigeria Open is one of the older national opens in Africa, and Nigerian professionals compete on regional circuits feeding into the wider African game. South Africa's Sunshine Tour is the leading professional tour on the continent and a development ground for golfers who go on to the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour. ScoresLive follows the global Majors alongside continental events so fans can track every round.
The Masters and The Open - Golf's Showpiece Majors
The Masters is the most iconic tournament in golf, held every April at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, where the winner receives the famous Green Jacket. The Open Championship is the oldest Major and the only one played outside the United States, rotating between links courses in Britain and Northern Ireland; Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, staged the 2026 edition. Track every round of all four Majors live on our golf page.
Golf Betting Guide for Nigerian Punters
Outright Winner Betting
The most popular golf market. You back a player to win the entire tournament. With fields of 130 to 150-plus players, even the favourite rarely prices short, so a modest stake on the winner can return significant profit in naira at licensed operators such as Bet9ja, SportyBet and BetKing.
Each Way Betting in Golf
Each way betting splits your stake between a win bet and a place bet. In Majors, terms are often a fraction of the win odds for a top 8 or top 10 finish, so even if your player does not win you can still collect on a strong finish. Always compare each way terms across operators, as they vary.
Head-to-Head and Make-or-Miss-the-Cut
Head-to-head betting lets you pick which of two named players finishes higher, removing the lottery of backing one winner across a huge field. Make or miss the cut is a simple yes or no market on whether a player survives the 36-hole cut, where form and course history can reveal real value.
Frequently Asked Questions: Golf Live Scores and Betting in Nigeria
ScoresLive tracks live golf scores for every major PGA Tour event, DP World Tour tournament and Major championship. The leaderboard updates round by round, showing each player's position, score to par, holes completed and round-by-round totals, all converted to local time for fans in Nigeria.
A leaderboard shows each player's position, name, score to par (such as -10, E for even, or +3), holes completed in the current round (THRU), today's score and individual round scores. A minus sign means under par, which is good. A plus sign means over par. E means exactly on par.
The four Majors are The Masters (Augusta National, April), the PGA Championship (May), the US Open (June) and The Open Championship, also called the British Open (July). These carry the most prestige, ranking points and prize money in world golf, and they draw the biggest betting markets each year.
